Although Tesla remains a top 10 EV maker in Europe, its market share is being eroded by brands like Volkswagen, which saw a 45% year-over-year sales increase in August. Despite Tesla's struggles, the overall European EV market remains robust, with August sales reaching 154,582 units, representing 20% of new car sales – enough to meet the EU's emission targets for 2025-2027.
